American goalkeeper Tim Syril has signed a contract with Gomel-based “Boomprom,” which competes in the country’s First League (i.e., the second division).
The contract with the goalkeeper runs through the end of 2027, according to "Belarusian Football".
Previously, the 22-year-old player played for the “Oakland Roots” club in the U.S. second division, where he played eight matches, conceded 16 goals, and recorded two shutouts.
After 12 rounds, “Bumprom” is in seventh place in the standings with 24 points.
Syrel has a Belarusian passport. He has said that his parents are from Belarus. His older sister was born in Belarus in 2001, and a year later the family moved to the U.S., where he was born.
“My grandparents, relatives, and close friends still live in Belarus—of course, aside from my parents and sister. When I was little, we used to fly there almost every summer. But then things got much more complicated: the COVID-19 outbreak happened, the borders closed, and travel became difficult—the last time I was in Belarus was eight years ago,” he said.
