Bessent Met With Siluanov

The U.S. Treasury Secretary discussed Trump's plan for Ukraine with his Russian counterpart.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent held a meeting with Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov. This was reported by Fox Business correspondent Edward Lawrence, as well as his NBC colleague Julia Zirkin and The New York Times.

The meeting took place at the summit of finance ministers and central bank governors of the “Group of Twenty” (G20) in Asheville, North Carolina

According to Edward Lawrence, the parties discussed Donald Trump’s plan to resolve the war in Ukraine.

NBC correspondent Julia Zirkin added that Bessent and Siluanov also discussed economic growth in both countries.

According to The New York Times, Siluanov’s participation in the summit sparked protests from representatives of European countries. As a result, he did not take part in the traditional group photo.

This is the first time the Russian finance minister has attended a G20 summit since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Anton Siluanov’s visit was not announced in advance, according to Meduza.
