The European Union Has "boarded" Yet Another Vessel Belonging To Russia's Shadow Fleet

The European Union has seized yet another ship from the “shadow fleet” linked to Russia, said the EU’s top diplomat Kaja Kallas.

“The oil tanker MV SUN, suspected of flying a false flag in violation of international maritime law, was boarded on August 30 in the Mediterranean Sea by forces of Operation IRINI to verify its flag,” the statement said.

The MV SUN is the sixth vessel from the shadow fleet to be inspected by EU forces in recent months, Kallas noted. According to her, EU defense ministers will discuss this issue at a summit in Ireland tomorrow, September 1.
