Christopher Nolan's new film, *Odyssey*, grossed $17.6 million at preview screenings. This is the best result of 2026, according to Variety.

Nolan’s 2023 Oscar-winning film *Oppenheimer* grossed $10.5 million in advance screenings.

The world premiere of *Odyssey* took place on July 17. The film is projected to gross $90–100 million in its opening weekend, which would mark Nolan’s biggest opening since *The Dark Knight Rises*.

If *Odyssey*’s box office takes exceed $100 million, it will become the third film this year to achieve that result in its opening weekend. By comparison, *Oppenheimer* earned $82 million in its opening weekend.

“Odyssey” is the first film in cinematic history to be shot entirely on IMAX cameras. The project has been criticized for its cast, costumes, and inaccuracies regarding historical facts. Despite this, it has received fairly high praise from critics and a 96% rating on the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.
