A successful attack near Novorossiysk.
An unmanned boat (UBV) operated by the SBU successfully struck the Avero, a vessel that is part of Russia’s “shadow fleet.” The moment of the attack was captured on video. The video was posted on the morning of July 19 on the security service’s official X account.
The attack took place near the port of Novorossiysk in the Black Sea.
“The Avero was involved in transporting Russian crude oil… The vessel was transporting oil, in particular, to China and India… It is precisely these ‘shadow fleet’ vessels that help the Kremlin circumvent sanctions, ensure oil exports, and obtain funds to finance the war,” the SBU noted.
They specified that the operation was carried out using the “Mamai” maritime drone. This UAV, capable of reaching speeds of up to 110 km/h, carries a 450-kg warhead and has a bulletproof hull.
Judging by the published video, the “Mamai” approached the Russian ship unimpeded and struck it from the rear. The consequences of the strike are still being assessed, but given the UGV’s power, they are significant.
The SBU noted that this is already the fourth ship of Russia’s “shadow fleet” to be struck by the service’s forces over the past 10 days.
