An analyst cited a possible reason.
The number of Shahed drones Russia is using to attack Ukraine has recently begun to decline. This may be a reaction to the increased effectiveness of Ukraine’s air defense, according to OSINT researcher Cyrus.
“The number of Russian UAVs is decreasing. Ukrainian countermeasures appear to be effective,” writes the analyst, publishing an infographic showing the number of drones deployed by day.

The graph shows that after peaking in early June, the overall numbers have been declining.
Cyrus notes that the total number of Russian attack UAVs shot down is rising, while large-scale attacks have become less frequent—the interval between them now exceeds two weeks.

Cyrus believes this is due to the Russians’ increased use of jet-powered versions of the “Shahed” drones. There are still few of them, but they are harder to intercept.
