Ukraine is counting on the political will of its partners.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed participants at the OSCE session and stated that Russia wants to break the Ukrainian people’s resistance with ballistic missiles. In this regard, he called for strengthening Ukraine’s air defense, according to RBC-Ukraine.
Zelenskyy emphasized that Russia is using ballistic missiles as its last resort to continue the war. And this is precisely what the Kremlin is counting on.
“They want ballistic missiles to break our resistance and the will of the Ukrainian people. That is exactly why we need more air defense systems. We’re talking about protecting lives every single day. Ukraine is in critical need of interceptor missiles for the Patriot system. We all know our partners have them. What is needed now is the political will to provide them—first and foremost in the United States,” the president said.
He noted that today is U.S. Independence Day and that America, together with the free world, can help Ukraine defend our country’s independence from Russia.
Therefore, Zelenskyy called for continued firm opposition to Russian terror and insisted on Ukraine’s need for air defense systems.
“Help ensure that our air defense systems—our Patriot systems—never run out of the missiles they need. That is what saves lives,” the head of state concluded.
