Political strategist Mikhail Sheitelman speculated that if Putin were to attack any country in the near future,

“There was this strange news report that the Russian Federation had closed the border crossing with Finland and Estonia—including both rail service and some other forms of transport. And I’m thinking, why did they close it if it’s already closed and nothing’s working anyway? Did they close it on the eve of an offensive or something? First the Finns closed it, and now the Russians have closed it on their side as well. “They used to be pushing for the right to send Russians to Finland, and now they’ve blocked that very thing themselves,” said Mikhail Sheitelman.

“I have serious concerns that we are facing, at the very least, a massive provocation on the border with Finland. After that, Sheitelman presented arguments suggesting that Finland could become the next victim of Russian aggression: “Suddenly, yesterday morning, before leaving for Khamenei’s funeral, Medvedev wrote that Finland is now a legitimate military target because the Finns have allowed nuclear weapons to be deployed on their territory. This means that the infamous flight time to St. Petersburg—which Putin is so concerned about—has been reduced to one minute. Those nuclear forces haven’t been deployed there yet, but as soon as they are, it will mean just one minute to the center of St. Petersburg—which is why I’m in such an alarmist mood today.”
