Ukrainian Drones "destroyed" One Of Russia's Largest Oil Refineries

On August 28, numerous explosions were heard in Yaroslavl, Russia. There are reports of an attack on the Yaroslavl Oil Refinery.

A massive fire broke out on the refinery’s grounds. This was reported by the Telegram channel Exilenova+.

Exilenova+ reported the strike on the Yaroslavl oil refinery at 7:21 a.m.

“Defense forces struck the Yaroslavl oil refinery, and a massive fire broke out on the facility’s grounds,” the report stated.

The channel backed up its claim with footage from the scene showing thick smoke.

Prior to this, Exilenova+ had published footage shot by Russians showing drones in the sky over Yaroslavl, the operations of Russian air defense systems (which, by all accounts, once again was targeting not so much the UAVs as the houses) and explosions that could be heard in the city.

The Yaroslavl Oil Refinery (PJSC "Slavnafta-YANOS") is one of the five largest oil refineries in Russia in terms of processing volume. Its capacity is approximately 15 million metric tons of crude oil per year.

It supplies fuel to central regions of Russia and supports the military logistics of the occupying forces.

The oil refinery has repeatedly been targeted by successful long-range attacks by Ukrainian drones (specifically, in June and August 2026), resulting in large-scale fires on its grounds.
