A Telegram channel close to the Belarusian leader posted some telling photos from the SCO summit in Bishkek, noting that these images would not go unnoticed.

And that’s a fair point: indeed, it’s amusing to see Lukashenko sitting on the edge of a sofa—graciously left for him by the slumped-over Erdogan—looking down condescendingly at Putin, who is leaning toward him.

And this isn’t the first time the Turkish autocrat has used a single photo to show his Russian counterpart his place in the hierarchy of the world’s bad guys, as recalled in “Solidarnast”.

In September 2022, at the SCO summit in Uzbekistan, Erdogan also did not hesitate to assert his leadership, relegating other participants to the role of secondary (at best) figures.

One of the most striking images from the informal part of that summit: the Turkish president captured the attention of his colleagues—including Putin and Lukashenko—who were sitting next to him on the sofa like diligent students.

It is telling that Aliyev was sitting next to Erdoğan; he appeared noticeably more at ease in that company than Putin, who had unleashed the largest war of the century in Europe.

The Russian leader also looked glum at the summit in Bishkek. For him, attending such forums as just one of many—and against the backdrop of the Chinese leader, no less—is clearly a burden.

The same cannot be said of Lukashenko, who, by all accounts, clearly does not mind playing the role of the one perched on the sidelines.
