In The Middle Of The Desert At Burning Man In The U.S., Belarusians Set Up A Drakar With Draniki

In the Nevada desert (U.S.), Belarusians set up a drakar with draniks at the annual Burning Man cultural and artistic event. The creators of the idea shared this on Instagram.

The group decided to set up the drakkar with draniks in early June.

“For some time now, we’ve been thinking about how to turn our beloved Dranik Bus into something much more magical. Now we’re looking for someone who’d like to take the lead on this project and help bring this idea to life. It’s a volunteer project, but at the same time, it’s an opportunity to create something that thousands of people will see at Burning Man,” the Belarusians wrote.

They managed to find a project leader very quickly and brought the idea to life before the festival.

This year, Burning Man began on August 30, and the group has already opened their drakkar filled with draniks, as well as a sauna and a party tent.

“We need more Belarusians to learn about Burning Man; in Minsk, only a couple of people knew about it,” the drakar’s creators said at the opening.

Burning Man is a major annual cultural and artistic event held in the Black Rock Desert in Nevada, USA, founded in 2004. For one week, a temporary city called Black Rock City is built in the middle of the desert, attracting tens of thousands of participants.

The main feature is that participants don’t just come to watch performances. They themselves create massive art installations, themed camps, installations, and performances, and organize parties and various events. At the end, they burn a massive wooden figure of a human—hence the name Burning Man.
