The large-scale fire was classified as a Level 2 emergency.

On the morning of September 2, a fire broke out in Perm at a workshop of the Proton-PM plant, which manufactures liquid-fuel rocket engines for the first stages of launch vehicles. This was reported by Dialog.UA after monitoring social media and messaging apps.

The fire at the Proton-PM plant broke out on September 2 at approximately 6:30 a.m. Eighty firefighters and 28 pieces of specialized equipment were dispatched to the scene. The fire was classified as a Level 2 emergency.

It is reported that by 07:56, the fire had been contained to an area of 2,100 square meters. According to preliminary information, one of the workshops at the “Proton-PM” plant is on fire. Company representatives declined to answer journalists’ questions.

Dmitry Makhonin , governor of the Perm Krai , also remained completely silent. Judging by the photos posted online, the fire at the plant in Perm is very large. A huge plume of black smoke rises into the sky above the plant.

The cause of the fire is unknown. It should be noted that no unmanned flight danger alert was issued in the Perm Krai on September 2.

“Proton-PM” is a strategic Russian enterprise that is part of the Roscosmos State Corporation. It manufactures liquid-fuel rocket engines for the first stages of launch vehicles, gas turbine units, and assemblies and components for aircraft engines.
