A One-meter-long Snake Was Found In One Of Grodno’s Courtyards

She assumed a defensive stance and scared people.

A large snake was spotted in Grodno near house No. 47 on Dombrovsky Street. Photos and videos of the reptile were posted by the website Newgrodno.by.

The uninvited guest was about one meter long. Based on its appearance, it was a common viper, but its impressive size took the locals by surprise. A young woman and a child were the eyewitnesses to this close encounter with wildlife.

The encounter proved to be stressful for both the people and the reptile. Upon noticing the scaly creature right in front of them, the frightened townspeople let out a loud scream. Startled by the sudden, sharp noise, the snake also panicked: it instantly assumed a defensive posture, menacingly raising the front part of its body off the ground—higher than an adult’s knee.

Fortunately, the incident ended peacefully, and no one was hurt. The reptile soon chose to retreat to a safe place.

Experts remind us that as the weather warms up, snakes often crawl into urban areas in search of food or shelter. If you encounter one, do not panic, make sudden movements, or try to catch it—in most cases, they will slither away on their own.
