Ukraine does not let evil go unpunished.
Ukraine will track down every war criminal who has attacked the civilian population with missiles and drones. This is especially true when it comes to attempts on the lives of children.
This was reported by Charter97.org, citing a statement by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Telegram.
The president hinted that Ukraine has captured a Russian general who commanded the attack on “Okhmatdet” in Kyiv on July 8, 2024.
“No matter where Russian criminals hide, they will be found, and today we have yet another confirmation of this fact—confirmation in the Saratov region,” he said.
Earlier, Charter97.org reported that in the Saratov region of the Russian Federation, an unknown assailant on a motorcycle fired twice at Russian Major General Nikolai Varpakhovich. The military officer sustained injuries to his face and body and was hospitalized in serious condition.
According to the SBU, he was the one who ordered the strike on the “Okhmatdet” Children’s Hospital in Kyiv and is also implicated in other war crimes.
It was also reported that on August 31, 2026, the SBU and the Office of the Prosecutor General notified Varpakhovich in absentia of his suspected involvement in the missile strike on the “Okhmatdet” Children’s Hospital.
According to official data, two people were killed as a result of the missile strike on the children’s hospital—a young doctor and the grandfather of one of the young patients.
In addition, a boy who was in critical condition in the intensive care unit at the time of the strike on “Okhmatdet” died. After the attack, he was transported to one of Kyiv’s hospitals.
