A Tver Resident On Belarus: There Are Many Who Don't Like Russians

The Russian woman didn't like it in our country.

A resident of Tver, emsokol, visited Belarus and shared her impressions on Threads.

“I didn’t get your country,” she says. “It’s boring, the food is nothing special, and there are a lot of people who don’t like Russians. Specifically, I interacted with staff, tour guides, and train station workers. I don’t know where this much-praised kindness came from; unfortunately, I didn’t encounter it. Well, after dealing with Belarusian women who respond to everyone with insults and openly tell off anyone who expresses a dissenting opinion, that’s the impression I got.”

Belarusians advised the Russian woman to share her impressions of visiting our country with as many of her compatriots as possible. The website Charter97.org features some comments:

- If everything you wrote is true, then that’s wonderful! Please tell all your fellow villagers about it. Yes, life here is boring and sad. And we don’t want to give you a hand. And the man who switched to the local language at the train station—he’s a miracle of a Belarusian. And the tour guides—they’re sweethearts. True, your line of thinking isn’t very clear. Why should everyone owe you something in another country that’s foreign to you? They’re supposed to speak Russian and be happy to put up with your rudeness.

- If Russians don’t like you, that’s not an insult—it’s more of a compliment.

- How wonderful. So you’d better not come here again.

If you’re having such a hard time in Belarus, please go travel around Russia instead.

- What a great thing to say about Belarus. Now go share that idea with your fellow countrymen.
