Media: Putin Secretly Traveled Abroad With Kabayeva

There was a data breach at the Federal Border Service of the Russian Federation.

Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin and his common-law wife Alina Kabaeva have been outside Russia together at least once—in Kazakhstan in February 2017.

According to “Proekt”, leaks from the Federal Border Service suggest that the trip may have been connected to informal meetings between the president and the then-head of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev.

According to the publication, on February 23, 2017, Kabaeva flew to Almaty on a private Embraer Legacy 650 business jet. She traveled without friends or relatives and returned to Russia four days later on the same plane.

Putin officially arrived in Kazakhstan on February 27 aboard the presidential aircraft, however, Russian state media later reported that the head of state had arrived several days earlier and held informal meetings with Nazarbayev at the Shymbulak ski resort.

Kabaeva’s trip was not publicly reported at the time. The plane she used was operated by VistaJet, and the cost of the flight could have been around $26,000. Relatives of Russian officials and Kremlin representatives have also used this same aircraft at various times.

Putin and Kabayeva may also have been in Uzbekistan at the same time in June 2016. Putin arrived there on June 23 for the SCO summit, while Kabayeva returned to Moscow on June 30 on a scheduled Aeroflot flight.

However, no records of her departure from Russia have been found. “Proekt” speculates that she may have traveled on a government plane.
