Belarus's Largest Bank Imposes Restrictions On Cards

Belarus's Largest Bank Imposes Restrictions On Cards

Belarusians should check their mobile app right now.

Belarusbank customers have begun receiving notifications about restrictions being imposed on their cards. The bank’s official Telegram channel explained how this will work in practice.

The change affects those who use the M-Belarusbank app and have access to cards other than their own.

“It’s true that app users had this option. It was convenient for helping relatives manage an account or maintain a joint budget. But to prevent fraudulent transactions, this option will soon be discontinued,” Belarusbank explained.

You must remove any cards that aren’t yours by October 1. If you don’t, all added cards (including your own) will stop working.

To do this, open the app and follow these steps: “Cards” → “Select Card” → “Settings” → “Remove Card.”

How to continue helping relatives

To ensure you don’t lose the ability to continue helping your relatives, you need to apply for an additional card linked to another person’s account and register it in the app.

“You can apply for such a card at any bank branch. The account holder must apply for it. Family ties are irrelevant,” Belarusbank emphasized.

Once the card is ready, you can add it to the app. You will then be able to continue using the joint account or help your relative carry out financial transactions.
