Germany Will Urgently Deliver Patriot Interceptor Missiles To Ukraine

The missiles will come from Bundeswehr stockpiles.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius stated that Berlin will transfer PAC-2 interceptor missiles for the Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine from the Bundeswehr's stockpiles.

Pistorius made this announcement during a meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine’s Defense Issues in the “Ramstein” format, according to "Suspilne".

According to him, the missiles are expected to arrive in Ukraine before the start of winter, amid anticipated Russian attacks on energy infrastructure.

“I have decided, in parallel with the NATO summit, to provide Ukraine with urgently needed PAC-2 interceptor missiles from Bundeswehr stockpiles,” Pistorius said.

He also called on other participants at the Ramstein meeting to check their own stockpiles and consider making similar deliveries to Ukraine.

“I understand that it is not easy to strike a balance between our own security needs and the urgently needed support for Ukraine. But please, if you are hesitating, make the decision in favor of Ukraine,” Pistorius said.

Earlier, British Defense Minister Wes Stritting announced that the country would allocate 100 million pounds to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense during the winter. The military aid package will include missiles for the Patriot systems.
