Businessmen getting ready for protest rally

The republican public association “Perspektiva” has filed an application to Minsk city executive committee for holding a protest rally of market vendors in Minsk on December 15.

In the application 8 activists say that by their meeting and a march participants want to “attract attention of the regime that the conditions individual entrepreneurs face since January 1, 2009 are inexecutable,” Radio Svaboda informs.

“As before we state that we are ready for a constructive dialogue. And contributing to tensions in the sphere of business in the situation of the financial crisis is not beneficial to anyone. That is why we will waive the idea of holding the march if a decree of the president would be signed to maintain the previous conditions of work of entrepreneurs in 2009.

If not, we do not have a way out. Yesterday Mr Tur stated that individual entrepreneurs will lose preferences in import of goods from Russia. If you wish, it is our response to the authorities. And we hope to demonstrate this response strongly and convincingly,” the leader of “Perspektiva” said.

As for the plans to hold the meeting on Bangalore square, Anatol Shumchanka said that it is important for the organisers “to demonstrate the position of people and of as many people as possible. We do not have an aim to have clashed with police”.
