Yulya Kazulina: “We are shocked”

“We have already phoned to all our relatives. All of us are shocked. The most awful thing I have heard is that my father was called a person who had nothing sacred for him. It’s hard to hear it from a man who really has nothing sacred for him,” Yulya, political prisoner Alyaksandr Kazulin’s daughter, said to Radio Svaboda commenting on Lukashenka’s address to the” parliament.”

Ihar Rynkevich, former lawyer of Alyaksandr Kazulin, said:

“Caddish attacks on Alyaksandr Kazulin will remain on Alyaksandr Lukashenka’s conscience, who knows well the conditions under which professor Kazulin was offered freedom. He lies here. He would be brought to criminal responsibility for insult in a civilised country. The only thing is that Kazulin can’t answer. In fact Lukashenka threw us back to inherited monarchy, which has no concern with the republican tradition, system of election of a head of state. It’s worthy of note that he is going to tell his plans for not one year. All of us are hostages of this man’s policy.“

Volha Kazulina, daughter of political prisoner Alyaksandr Kazulin, is perplexed with A. Lukashenka’s statement that Kazulin had been offered freedom, but had refused:

“What concerns my father, it wasn’t so. Other political prisoners were released. But he was said: leave the country and ask for political asylum. My father didn’t agree with it. He is not guilty and is not going to escape from the country.”
