Russia finally refused 100bn rubble loan to Belarus

This information was spread by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Finance.

“At this stage, Belarus is rejected a loan of 100bn Russian rubles (about 3bn dollars),” an officer of the press service told Interfax.

At the same time the press service of the Russian Ministry of Finance noted that “the ministry received a new request for a $2bn bank loan from Belarus on a state guarantee of Russia”.

The officer of the ministry didn’t say which banks could grant this loan to Belarus.

Russia has given 3bn dollars of credit resources to Belarus for the last 18 months, including 1.5bn dollars in late 2007 and 1.5bn dollars in two tranches in late 2008 and March 2009. Besides, as Russian finance minister Aleksei Kudrin told earlier, Russia would soon give Belarus another 500 million dollar tranche from the $2bn stabilization loan.
