8

It is expected that on May 28 an intergovernmental agreement on constriction of the first nuclear power station would be signed.

It has been stated today by the head of the state corporation “Rosatom” Syarhei Kirienka. As noted by Interfax, the agreement is planned to be signed during the visit of the Russian Premier Vledimir Putin to Belarus.

As it was informed before, Russia and Belarus have decided to sign an intergovernmental agreement on peaceful uses of atomic energy. Such an agreement was reached summing up the results of the meeting in Minsk of Rosatom head Sergei Kirienko and first vice Premier of Belarus Uladzimir Syamashka. As it has been noted, signing this agreement would open the sides an opportunity to proceed to direct negotiations on the contract on building the first Belarusian nuclear power station on turn-key terms.

U. Syamashka noted that the leadership of Belarus inclines to realize at its territory a project of a nuclear power station, to which “Atomstrojexport” closed joint-stock society is to become a general contractor.
