Activists of Young Front and Belarusian Christian Democracy party gathered near GUM department store holding posters “Criminal Must be Punished” and “Killer Must Resign”.

An action of solidarity organized by activists of Young Front and Belarusian Christian Democracy party (BCD) was held in Minsk near GUM department store on October 16.

Activists stood in front of the picket for collecting signatures for Alyaksandr Lukashenka and held portraits of Lukashenka with the text “Criminal Must be Punished” and “Killer Must Resign”. The other portraits depicted the kidnapped opponents of the authorities, namely Yury Zakharanka, Viktar Hanchar, Anatol Krasouski, and Dzmitry Zavadski, and the question “Where”.

Participant of the action Mikola Dzemidzenka told Radio Svaboda:

“This information picket is an addition to that Lukashenka’s yellow tent. We decided to help them and inform about unknown biography of Lukashenka, about his disappeared opponents. We said he was directly involved in that. We stood near the picket for Lukashenka in order the people wanting to sign for him could know who he is. Mr Lukashenka apparently forgot to mention these facts in his biography. We decided to help him on the day of Belarusian solidarity.”

Plainclothes militiamen watched the action and ordered to end it, but didn’t hinder it. The action lasted 15 minutes. The passers-by turned away from the picket for Lukashenka and demonstrated their interest in the information spread by the activists.
