Germany has unveiled a new generation of weapons.

At the ILA International Aerospace Exhibition in Berlin, German defense companies presented a number of promising developments designed to bolster the army’s capabilities amid growing tensions in Europe. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz visited the exhibition, writes Bild (translation — Charter97.org website).

One of the main highlights was the Ghost Bat strike drone, developed jointly by Rheinmetall and Boeing. The aircraft is designed to serve as a "wingman" for modern fighter jets. It is capable of performing reconnaissance missions, conducting electronic warfare, and deploying weapons. The developers reported that the drone has already completed more than 150 test flights, and its cost is approximately ten times lower than that of a modern combat aircraft. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2029.

Another notable new product is the Pulse 19—a multi-purpose platform capable of both autonomous and piloted control. The vehicle will be capable of performing transport and combat missions. The first test flights are scheduled for 2027.

Diehl presented the IRIS-T SLS mobile air defense system. The system is mounted on a single truck and is capable of firing while on the move, providing protection for troops against drones, helicopters, and cruise missiles.

Meanwhile, Mercedes-Benz and Tytan are working on mobile anti-drone systems that will be mounted on Sprinter platforms and the military version of the G-Class.

Airbus also showcased its development. The company presented the fully autonomous U145 helicopter, designed to resupply units and serve as a carrier for drones. The first flight of the new aircraft is scheduled for late 2026.

The projects presented demonstrate the growing interest of European countries in autonomous systems, unmanned technologies, and mobile air defense systems, which are increasingly viewed as key elements of future armed conflicts.
