Chavez to Lukashenka: “Together we are building an alternative to world imperialism”

The Belarusian and Venezuelan rulers had three-hour long talks behind closed doors in Minsk.
According to official information, opening private talks with Hugo Chavez in Minsk on October 16, Alyaksandr Lukashenka thanked the Venezuelan leader for Venezuela’s aid to Belarus, BelaPAN reports.
“I’d like to thank you not only for oil and other supplies, but also for the sun you’ve brought to us,” Lukashenka said.
The Belarusian ruler emphasized that Chavez “gave much of his energy and his heart to building independence of Belarus.”
“I don’t want to be indebted to you, not only in material sense. I swear, we will do much for Venezuela, so you won’t have to regret got involved with us,” Lukashenka said.
Chavez in turn thanked the Belarusian ruler for the help and support Belarus renders to Venezuela.
As of the oil supplies, Chavez noted: “We know that your oil refineries need oil. Venezuela possesses the largest oil reserves. Belarusian refineries won’t lack oil for the nearest 200 years,” Chavez said.
President of Venezuela stressed: “There are no debtors. We are comrades. Together we are building an alternative to world imperialism,” he said.
Hugo Chavez noted that “new mechanisms” of cooperation between the two countries had been discussed at the one-to-one negotiations with Alyaksnadr Lukashenka that had taken more than three hours.
Foreign minister Syarhei Martynau, deputy prime minister Uladzimir Syamashka, and Lukashenbka’s aide for special missions Viktar Sheiman represented Belarus at the restricted attendance talks.
