Mikola Statkevich’s hunger strike started 29 days ago

Mikola Statkevich, a presidential candidate, was detained during the protest rally after the presidential election on December 19, 2010.

As it was informed earlier, right after the arrest he announced a hunger strike. He demanded cancelling of the vote results because of the massive election fraud, Radio Svaboda informs.

Mikola Statkevich’s associates believe that the politician will not stop his hunger strike. It was also informed that the politician declined to give evidence to investigators. On December 29 he was charged with organizing and participation in mass riots. Tatsyana Stankevich, the lawyer of the politician, was present when accusation was made. She was given no other opportunity to meet with her client. His family has not receive any letters from him.
