The Vitebsk region prosecutor’s office opted not to open a criminal case against activist of For Freedom movement Yury Salodki for insulting the president.
“An investigator from the prosecutor’s office phoned me and said a criminal case would not be initiated,” Yury Salodki, who lives and works in Minsk, but has residential registration in Vitebsk, told “Salidarnasts”, “He said the investigation was over. They issued a warning saying I should restrain from making similar statements”.
We remind that Yury has been summoned to the Vitebsk region prosecutor’s office for a questioning in connection with insulting Alyaksandr Lukashenka. Investigators were to decide if a criminal case must be opened after carrying out a linguistic examination of three letters sent from Salodki’s e-mail to governmental agencies. The activist was shown printed copied of the letters allegedly sent from his e-mail to police and other bodies calling not to fulfill orders of the illegally elected president.
“I am free now. No measures will be taken against me. I only must go and take my warning,” Yury Salodkyi says. “This is a pleasant surprise taking into account the pressure on me in the last days – policemen again visited me at home.”
