Flowers for Kavalenka brought to prison in Valadarski Street (Photo)

On March 25 a group of members of the Conservative Christian Party Belarusian Popular Front brought a bunch of flowers and a letter with congratulations for Syarhei Kavalenka on the occasion of Freedom Day.
After numerous bells, representatives of administration of the prison in Valadarski Street finally answered and opened the door. They talked to representatives of the party, but did not allow passing flowers and the letter. The bouquet was left on the bench in front of the remand prison, Radio Svaboda informs.
“Syarhei Kavalenka is the honour of the nation. We are proud of this person now, and we shall always be proud of him and people like him. He shows us how we should fight for a free, independent Belarus,” Yury Belenki said.
Syarhei Kavalenka continues his hunger strike of protest against illegal verdict. The activist was sentenced to 2 years and one month of imprisonment for violation of the order of serving correctional labour term at home. He was punished for placing a white-red-white flag on the New Year Tree in Vitsebsk.
