USA has lifted sanctions against BelOMO

The US sanctions against a Belarusian company BelOMO have been lifted.

The United States Department of State has not prolonged the sanctions against the public corporation “Belarusian optical and mechanical association”, which were introduced in May 2011.

The respective information has been published on the web-site of the Department of State.

We would remind that on 24 May sanctions also have been lifted from the closed corporation Beltekhexport. The US Department of State introduced the sanctions against BelOMO on 24 May 2011 for violating the Non-proliferation act in regards to Iran, North Korea and Syria. BelOMO was accused of selling technologies, related to the production of nuclear, chemical and biological weapon and ballistic missile systems, to Iran, North Korea and Syria

BelOMO produces hi-tech equipment, used, in particular, in anti-missile systems.

Today, there are US sanction in effect against companies Servisiz, Republican research and development unitary enterprise Radar, a number of enterprises of the state concern Belneftekhim, banks with Iranian capital – closed corporation Onerbank (now – NordEuropa Bank) and Bank Trading Capital.
