Belarus Ranks Second Among USSR Countries In U.S. Dollar Exchange Rate Rise

Russia goes first.

The official exchange rate of the US dollar in Belarus increased by 16.12% (from 2.7364 Br to 3.1775 Br) in 2023. This is the second indicator on the territory of the former USSR, according to a comparative analysis of central banks' quotations for 31 December 2022 and 31 December 2023, conducted by Pozirkam.

Russia is in first place - 27.51% (from 70.3375 Br to 89.6883 Br).

In December, the US currency rate in Belarus rose by 2.02% - the second place after Ukraine (+4.42%).

In Poland, Belarus' neighbour, the dollar rate fell by 10.60% over the year (from 4.4018 to 3.9350 zloty).

According to the results of 2022, Belarus ranked third in the former Soviet Union in terms of growth of the official dollar rate (+7.39%), while in 2021 - fourth among the countries where the dollar fell in price (-1.19%), while in 2020 - first in terms of appreciation (+22.59%).
