The possibility of admitting him to the intensive care unit is being considered.
The man detained by Russia’s Federal Security Service Ilya Traber, one of St. Petersburg’s most influential businessmen, who was associated with Vladimir Putin in the 1990s, was urgently hospitalized from his cell, according to the channel “VChK-OGPU”, which is close to Russian security agencies.
“The question of whether to place him in intensive care is currently being considered. The source does not know the diagnosis or any details. According to him, Traber was taken to the FSB military hospital on Shchukinskaya Street under heavy guard. He also denied reports that Traber knew about his detention, met with operatives wearing a tie, and was accompanied by lawyers,” reported “VChK-OGPU.”
Putin and Traber have known each other for over 30 years—ever since the future Russian president worked at the St. Petersburg City Hall. According to *Novaya Gazeta*, Putin, while serving as deputy mayor, provided significant support to Traber’s business. Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov confirmed that Putin and Traber knew each other, but described their relationship as professional and their decisions as routine.
Traber was a guest of honor at Putin’s birthday celebrations in at least 2004 and 2016, according to The Insider. In its investigation, the TV channel “Dozhd” called Traber “the only living criminal boss whose acquaintance Putin has acknowledged.”
