New details of the destruction of the bridge and the Russian base near Mariupol.
On January 6, the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed a half-built railway bridge, which was supposed to be part of a direct railway route between Russia and occupied Crimea.
The new details of the operation were announced by Petro Andryushchenko, an adviser to the Mariupol mayor.
"Yesterday, the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed a half-built railway bridge, fuel tanks and engineering transport near the village of Hranitne with a targeted strike. They tried to shoot down, but the engineering base itself acted well as an effective Russian air defence," Andryushchenko wrote, noting that now the issue of launching a direct railway from Russia is closed for a long time.
"As a bonus, due to a strong attempt to shoot down the ‘God's punishment’, the location of new air defence batteries in the Mariupol district was deployed - the coordinates have already been transferred to the relevant services," Andryushchenko added.
Andryushchenko also thanked representatives of the Mariupol Resistance and residents of the Mariupol district, who "evidenced and provided support for the liquidation of an important military logistics infrastructure facility."

Direct communication between the Russian Federation and Crimea
In November last year, the occupiers announced the start of construction of a railway from Rostov-on-Don through the captured cities of Mariupol and Berdiansk to the Crimea.
Earlier, Petro Andryushchenko, the adviser to the Mariupol mayor, wrote that the enemy was creating a direct railway route to Mariupol and Donetsk. He also reported that the occupiers were building a new highway from Rostov to Mariupol.
