‘The Kremlin Wanted His Death — So It Happened’

What Russian officials say anonymously about Navalny's death.

“It was expected that this would happen and that Navalny would not come out of prison,” a Russian government official, who agreed to speak only on condition of anonymity, told The Moscow Times.

The cause of death could be that Navalny was kept in difficult conditions for a long time, he believes.

“I do not rule out that, as they write in Telegram channels, there could be a blood clot. So many days in a punishment cell in a row is death. Looks like they over exerted themselves,” the source said.

Another source told The Moscow Times, a former senior Kremlin official, said Russian authorities systematically brought him to his death:

“There [in the Kremlin] they wanted him dead. So it happened.”
