Babruisk District Resident Takes Up Scythe Against Police

A man was shot in the leg.

A resident of the village of Malye Bortniki near Babruisk was shot in the leg during the arrest. The police say that he "took up a scythe against officers and got aggressive".

On the evening of April 17, the police received a message about the theft of money from a 35-year-old resident of the village. The police arrived at the specified address. No one opened the door for them, but then a man with a scythe ran out of the house.

"Suddenly, a 59-year-old man with a scythe ran out of the house. An aggressive local resident refused to comply with the legitimate demands of employees, shouting threats at them and not responding to repeated warnings. When he went to one of the police officers, posing a real threat to his life and health, the police officer fired a warning shot into the air. The man did not stop. After that, the officer shot the attacker in the leg," said Vyacheslav Vorontsov, deputy head of the Police Department of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Mahiliou Regional Executive Committee.

The wounded man was detained and taken to the hospital. His actions will be investigated.
