Garry Kasparov: Any Army That Enters Ukraine Will Not Return To Russia
Garry Kasparov

Putin is using the ceasefire in Ukraine to prepare for an invasion of NATO countries.

Russia is preparing for war. The goal of such an attack is to demonstrate that NATO no longer exists. This was stated by one of the leaders of the Russian opposition, Garry Kasparov, on the YouTube channel “Free Russia Forum”. The website Charter97.org provides excerpts from the interview.

“I don’t know to what extent this will affect the overall geopolitical situation, but for Putin, this could turn out to be the very achievement he so desperately lacks right now,” the politician said. “NATO is no more; it’s not functioning. We’ve crossed the border, and they’re doing something over there.

The Americans aren’t in the picture here, so I’d consider this scenario very likely. This isn’t just my point of view; it’s what everyone is saying—if not publicly, then at least in behind-the-scenes conversations at all conferences—and it has long since ceased to be a theoretical threat. It has become a threat that must be reckoned with in the most immediate practical terms.

Russia is actively expanding its military infrastructure along NATO’s borders; this is confirmed by analysis of satellite imagery showing the construction of new military bases and weapons depots, as well as the deployment of large quantities of military equipment. Once the war in Ukraine ends, Russia plans to station 115,000 military personnel near the borders of NATO countries.

The regions where they will be concentrated are listed. According to expert estimates, the number of Russian ground forces near Finland’s borders could increase to 80,000. Within a few weeks, they are capable of deploying hundreds of thousands of troops from other regions of the country to the western frontiers.

Another cause for concern is the reform of the armed forces. Instead of small combat groups, large divisions of up to 10,000 troops are being formed, and the experience of the war in Ukraine—including the widespread use of drones—is being actively studied.

We’ve said this many times, and you don’t have to be a great analyst to see the obvious: an army that invades Ukraine will not return to Russia. This means that any ceasefire in Ukraine—if it’s even possible—does not mean that Russia will return to a path of peace.

Maybe I’ve overlooked something—maybe I need new glasses or a microscope—that would show Putin’s Russia is preparing in any way for a peaceful life. Everything that’s happening—in finance, the economy, propaganda, and education—is geared toward war, and a long-term war at that. And this war isn’t against Ukraine; it’s a war against the free world.”
