The country's prime minister has been given an ultimatum.
On Saturday evening, tens of thousands of Albanians held yet another protest against the planned construction of a luxury resort linked to the family of U.S. President Donald Trump, on an environmentally vulnerable stretch of the country’s Adriatic coast.
This was reported by "European Truth".
Albanian media reported that more than 100,000 people took part in Saturday evening’s protest, including members of the diaspora from Greece and other European countries, as well as Albanians from neighboring Kosovo.
The protesters stated that if Prime Minister Rama does not resign by 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, they will attempt to storm and occupy government buildings and the parliament building in the capital, Tirana.
The luxury resort project is linked to Trump’s daughter Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner.
The luxury resort project, valued at more than 1.4 billion euros and being developed by Kushner’s company Affinity Partners, has sparked mass protests in this Western Balkan country in recent weeks. It is believed that the construction plans will affect an environmentally protected area on the Adriatic coast.
