Negotiations Between The U.S. And Iran Have Begun In Switzerland

Intermediaries from Qatar and Pakistan are also participating in these talks.

Negotiations have begun in Switzerland between the U.S. and Iran, with representatives from the mediating countries—Qatar and Pakistan—also participating.

This was reported by the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The ministry’s official spokesperson Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari noted that specialized technical and expert working groups had been established to discuss the provisions of the final agreement, covering all aspects of the memorandum of understanding. He also stated that groups had been formed to oversee the implementation of the memorandum and monitor progress toward concluding the final agreement.

Media reports indicated that the U.S. delegation included Vice President J.D. Vance.

He stated that the U.S. hopes for progress on the “nuclear issue” and in Lebanon, while Tehran stated that it “will demand that the other side fulfill its obligations,” according to an article by BBC.

Vance was joined at the Bürgenstock mountain resort by the son-in-law of U.S. President Donald Trump, Jared Kushner, and Special Envoy Steve Whitcoff.

Late in the evening on June 20, Speaker of Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Switzerland from Iran.
