The smoke covered dozens of kilometers.

According to eyewitnesses, a series of powerful explosions rocked the area around the Slavyansk Oil Refinery, after which a thick plume of smoke rose from the facility and a massive fire broke out.
So far, it is known that at least several tanks containing petroleum products have caught fire.

NASA’s FIRMS satellite service, which tracks thermal anomalies and large fires, also detected a fire in the area of the Slavyansk Oil Refinery.
In addition to the oil refinery, NASA FIRMS has detected a possible fire at the oil stabilization and gas treatment unit of the Slavyanskaya Oil and Gas Processing Plant, owned by RN-Krasnodarneftegaz LLC.

The published map of thermal anomalies shows several fire hotspots at once in the industrial zone of Slavyansk-on-Kuban.
Social media users are already reporting that, following NASA FIRMS’ detection of fires at the refinery in Slavyansk-on-Kuban, “Crimea is on edge.”
Meanwhile, local residents continue to film the aftermath of the attack. In one of the videos, the author emotionally states that they are “tired of the war” and that “it’s time to end it.”
The Slavyansk refinery is a key industrial facility in the region.
The plant specializes in producing a wide range of products, including:
Aviation kerosene and vacuum gas oil.
Stable-gasoline and fuel oil.
Low-pour-point fraction.
The company accounts for about 9% of the oil refining market in the Southern Federal District and about 1.5% of the total Russian market, supplying fuel, among other things, to meet the needs of Russian occupation forces.
