Aviation Expert Pointed Out An Interesting Detail In The Attack On St. Petersburg

Ukrainian drones again hit St. Petersburg, which is hosting an international economic forum attended by Putin these days. Ukraine's defense forces attacked the Russian Navy's 15th arsenal in the Leningrad region and the Kronstadt naval base on June 6.

Aviation expert Konstantin Krivolap, analyzing the "24 Kanal" drone attack on St. Petersburg, suggested that Ukraine used long-range FP-1 aircraft-type drones.

Drone attack on St. Petersburg: why the air defense failed?

Russian air defense systems, as the aviation expert noted, are not capable of intercepting FP-1 drones. These drones have an improved guidance and orientation system. This makes it possible to develop more successful tactics for defeat.

- If you look at the last attack (June 3) on the oil terminal, you can see that our drone came in, took aim, turned around and only then struck. This indicates that either there is robust communication provided there, allowing the operator who is in control to strike, or there is a recognition system there, machine targeting. It's all in automatic mode. This is a completely different level of accuracy," Krivolap emphasized.

The aviation expert drew attention to the fact that the footage, which was filmed by eyewitnesses during the first attack on the oil terminal in St. Petersburg, showed a Rosgvardean man using a machine gun to try to shoot down a Ukrainian drone, but to no avail. As Krivolap explained, it is virtually impossible to provide many Pantsireys to intercept UAVs at low altitudes.

- They do not have such a large number of interceptor drones to effectively counter Ukrainian drones. While we now shoot down up to 95% of the UAVs that Putin directs at Ukraine, the Russians also shoot down a large number of our drones.
