The President of Ukraine plans to reset relations with Poland.
Everyone in Europe needs good-neighborly, equal, and mutually beneficial relations based on respect.
This was reported by Charter97.org, citing a statement by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Telegram.
The president held a meeting on Ukraine’s policy toward Poland.
“Poland has provided significant support to Ukraine since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, and we are grateful,” he noted.
Zelenskyy stated that defending Ukraine’s independence directly strengthens Poland’s independence.
“The security challenges currently facing Europe can only be resolved through cooperation, particularly among the free nations of our region,” Zelenskyy said.
According to Zelenskyy, several key steps will be taken following the meeting:
1. Diplomatic solutions.
2. Opening all archives of the SBU and the SZRU regarding the tragic events of the 20th century in Volhynia.
3. Issuing a significant number of additional permits for search and exhumation work and, together with the Polish side, ensuring their greater effectiveness.
4. Discussion of possible formats for expanding the inter-community dialogue between Ukraine and Poland.
5. An agreement with Oleksandr Alferov, head of the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance (UINR), on expanding the institute’s capabilities.
“Oleksandr will prepare and present comprehensive proposals, and the relevant members of the government and the relevant committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will consider the possibility of increasing financial and other support for the UINP,” Zelenskyy said.
