Alyaksandr Atroshchankau transferred to penal colony on Freedom Day

Andrei Sannikov spokesman, Alyaksandr Atroshchankau, was transferred to the penal colony “Vitba-3” on March 25.

Journalist’s wife Daria Korsak said about this on Sunday.

“He wrote a letter that he had been transferred to the jail in Valadarski Street (Minsk). He knew that he would be transferred on Friday, but he did not know where to. But I knew where to, but I did not know when,” Daria Korsak noted.

Alyaksandr Atroshchankau was sent to a penal colony, though his cassation appeal has not been considered yet. The hearing on the appeal in the Minsk City Court is appointed for 10 am on April 5.

“My husband was glad that he had been transferred from the KGB jail. His cell mates met him well. I concluded from the letter that on the one hand he liked the changes, but on the other hand, he knew absolutely nothing. He writes he was afraid that he would have to wait for a decision on the cassation appeal in the KGB jail,” Daria said.

On March 2, the court of Frunzenski district of Minsk sentenced Alyaksandr atroshchankau to four years in a medium security colony allegedly for taking part in the mass riot on December 19, 2010.

Alyaksandr Atroshchankau, the spokesman of presidential candidate Andrei Sannikov, marked his 30th birthday in the KGB jail on March 22.
