Atroshchankau denied exit from country on ground of invalid court ruling

The coordinator of European Belarus civil campaign learned this information from the citizenship and migration office of his district.

On March 27, Alyaksandr Atroshchankau, Syarhei Kalyakin and Anatol Lyabedzka were taken off the train in Orsha on their way from Minsk to Moscow. They were accused of trafficking drugs and later of swearing. They spent two days in a detention facility in Orsha. The court of Orsha fined each of them 350,000 Belarusian rubles.

On April 11, border guards ordered Atroshchankau to get off Minsk-Vilnius train at Gudagai station on the border. He was told he was banned from leaving Belarus.

“I learned at the citizenship and migration office a travel ban was imposed on me on a decision of the court of Orsha on the ground of the fine issued to me. The trial ended on the evening of March 29 and a travel ban was imposed on March 30. In fact, I did not have time to pay the fine. It is absolutely unlawful. I appealed against the decision of the court of Orsha to the Vitebsk region court, so the court decision has not taken force yet,” Alyaksandr Atroshchankau told charter97.org.
