Ran Out Of Fuel: New Details On The Hard Landing Of A Helicopter Carrying Z-Propagandists

We were literally one bucket of kerosene short.

A Mi-8 helicopter, carrying which was carrying a representative of the Sakhalin Regional Election Commission, four local television reporters, and three crew members, made a hard landing in the Dolinsky District in southern Sakhalin, according to the regional election commission’s press office. The aircraft was returning from Cape Terpeniya in the Poronaisky District, where early voting for the State Duma elections was being held for residents of hard-to-reach areas, writes The Moscow Times.

According to the z-channel Fighterbomber, the emergency landing was caused by both engines shutting down due to fuel exhaustion—the helicopter fell short of the “Sokol” airfield by about five kilometers. “There wasn’t enough kerosene,” the channel writes.

According to the press service, as the helicopter approached the airfield, it began to lose altitude rapidly, but the pilot managed to land it on the roadway, after which it rolled into a ditch. The passengers and crew members sustained only bruises and scrapes; there were no casualties on the road either. Emergency services are currently on the scene.

The helicopter belongs to Aviation Squadron No. 11 from Khabarovsk and was provided by the Russian Ministry of Defense to facilitate voting in remote areas.
