Yanukevich: We are being provoked to withdraw from the "elections"

The BPF leader is outraged by a paltry number of party members in district electoral commissions.

On August 10, at a press conference in Minsk, BPF leader Aliaxei Yanukevich said that by non-inclusion of opposition representatives into election commissions the authorities provoke democratic candidates to  withdraw themselves from the election campaign.

He recalled that even before the announcement of elections, the party decided that its members will focus on the inclusion of party representatives in election commissions. Inclusion or non-inclusion of party representatives to election commissions was considered as an important criteria for the format of participation of BPF in the "elections", reports BelaPAN.

As Yanukevich noted, from 57 representatives of the party  only 12 were included in the district election commissions. And from 233 candidates of BPF and the public organization of BPF "Adradzhenne" for participation in precinct election commissions were chosen only 13 people.

"It is obvious that the authorities have drawn conclusions from the results of previous elections and intent to prevent possible participation of civil representatives and members of the democratic opposition in how, in fact, the elections are carried out, - in counting the votes and all what happens with ballots", - said Yanukevich.

Nevertheless, despite the fact that members of the BPF, according to the politician "are not actually included in commissions", candidates of the party will continue their campaigns. "The final decision about our place in the ballots, will be made at the Congress on the 15th of September ", - said the politician.

He noted that today the requirements, that usually formulates the BPF party for participation in the “elections”, "in order to consider these elections free and minimally fair, and leave party members in the ballots, are absent".
