Iryna Khalip Summoned To Police

An administrative process has been initiated against the well-known journalist.

The Charter97.org website asked one of the leaders of the European Belarus civil campaign, well-known journalist Iryna Khalip to comment:

- I am summoned to the Tsentralny district police department on Monday, December 2, at 10 am. The summons says that they are calling me as a person who is being prosecuted for an administrative offense under Article 23.43 of the Administrative Code.

As far as I remember, this is about violating the rules of holding mass events. Calls or something like that. I do not know the details yet.

I would like to say that the summons did not surprise me at all. Especially after the news that Ales Krutkin was arrested for 15 days just for a repost, which allegedly contained a call to come to a rally. Anyway, I was waiting for something like this.

Again, it has been three weeks since our last campaigns. Basically, why have they been sitting on the fence? Because they were waiting for all the observers to leave, for the mission of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights to finish its work and publish the report.

In general, for when the whole story becomes the past for the information agenda. That's when it's time to send us the police summons. Nothing new. It is time for them to take their petty wicked revenge.
