Smoke is rising from the Yaroslavl Oil Refinery.

The Ukrainian military carried out strikes on strategic targets in Russia’s Yaroslavl Region. Preliminary reports indicate that the Yaroslavl Oil Refinery was the target of the drone strikes. The attack took place on the night of November 3.

An alert regarding a drone and missile threat in the region was issued at approximately 2:47 a.m. Minsk time. Authorities restricted traffic leaving Yaroslavl toward Moscow, starting from the intersection of Moskovsky Prospekt and the Southwestern Ring Road, citing “security measures.” The city’s airport was also closed.

Local residents are reporting multiple explosions. “It’s rumbling loudly,” note Yaroslavl online publications.

The Yaroslavl Oil Refinery is one of the largest in Russia: it is capable of processing up to 15 million metric tons of crude oil per year. The facility supplies the Russian military with fuel and lubricants, which is why, as the article emphasizes, it is a legitimate target for Ukrainian forces.
