The protest took place during an IMF plenary session.

The Chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine Andriy Pyshny, together with the heads of several Western delegations, staged a protest during a speech by Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov at the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in Bangkok.

Pyshnyy spoke about this in a comment to "European Truth".

The walkout took place during a plenary session of the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC), attended by ministers and central bank governors from IMF and World Bank member countries. The IMFC is the IMF’s key advisory body.
“During Russian Finance Minister Siluanov’s speech, I stood up and left the room. A large number of delegation heads left with me: all the Scandinavian countries, the EU, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany,” Pyshnyy said.

He emphasized that this was the first time such a collective walkout had occurred and described it as “a rather emotional and powerful moment.” “For central bank governors, who are typically very cautious, this is usually a clear expression of their support and stance on the war,” Pyshny explained.

The head of the NBU noted that in previous years, the Russian delegation had participated in similar events to one degree or another, but such a collective walkout had never occurred, although Pyshny himself had always left the room. “This year, the situation is radically different from what it was before,” Pyshnyy said, attributing this to the tense events of the past week.

He also noted that on Monday, during a formal reception hosted by the Prime Minister of Thailand, representatives of the European delegations, upon seeing the seating arrangement, demanded that it be changed so they would not end up at the same table as the Russians.

“As a result, Overchuk, who is the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and is subject to sanctions by the European Union, Canada, Switzerland, and other countries, simply refused to attend the reception because, apparently, they were trying to find him another seat, and, as it turned out, that wasn’t very easy,” the head of the NBU noted.
