Special Pension Reforms Are Taking Effect In Belarus

Special Pension Reforms Are Taking Effect In Belarus

They will affect a specific group of people.

The Belarusian government has introduced changes regarding rehabilitation and accommodation in social care homes. Some of these changes directly affect people of retirement age, according to the "Chrysanthemum" project.

One of the changes is a reduction in the list of documents required to undergo a social rehabilitation (habilitation) program and reside in social boarding houses.

Another new development is that this rehabilitation course, which lasts 30 days within a calendar year, can now be divided into two parts.

The changes also affect the provision of special living quarters in social boarding houses. Among other things, the list of those eligible for priority and immediate access to such quarters has been revised. For example, honorary blood donors can now apply for this service out of turn.

An additional basis for temporary residence in social boarding houses has also been introduced. People of retirement age and those with Group I and II disabilities may be temporarily placed in such facilities for up to three months if their caregivers are temporarily unable to provide care for objective reasons.

Another change is the expansion of the list of citizens eligible to reside in social boarding houses free of charge. This now includes people of retirement age: women aged 58 and older, and men aged 63 and older. Previously, only those who had reached the age of 65 could receive this service free of charge. For those younger than that, this option was available for a fee.
