A massive fire and at least three separate fires.
New footage has appeared online, taken on the morning of June 28 following nighttime attack on the Slavyansk Oil Refinery in Slavyansk-on-Kuban, Krasnodar Krai, Russian Federation, reports “Dialog.UA”.
The video shows that several hours after the strike, the fire on the plant’s grounds had not been extinguished. Huge plumes of thick black smoke continue to rise above the industrial zone; according to local residents, they are visible from dozens of kilometers away.
The published footage shows at least three separate fire sites located in different parts of the oil refinery complex. The fire has engulfed several facilities at the plant at once.
Earlier, NASA’s FIRMS satellite service also detected several thermal anomalies in the area of the Slavyansk Oil Refinery. In addition to the oil refinery itself, the service noted a possible fire at the oil stabilization and gas treatment unit of the Slavyanskaya Oil Refinery and Gas Processing Plant, owned by RN-Krasnodarneftegaz LLC.
The Slavyansk Oil Refinery has repeatedly been the target of Ukrainian attacks. The facility is considered one of the key sites in Russia’s oil refining industry and, according to open sources, supplies fuel, including to the occupied Crimea.
At the time of publication, Russian authorities had not reported on the extent of the damage to the facility. However, new footage shows that the fire caused by the nighttime attack continues to rage on the industrial complex’s grounds.
