Svolka, Белавиа летает раз в месяц. Бритиши в Минск, вроде, вообще не летают. Билет даже относительно дешевой Эир Балтик стоит примерно 250 фунтов. Про Белавиа молчу, одна из самых дорогих контор в Европе.

А што вы хотели, англики!!! В хрустальный сосуд, островок стабильности и уникальную страну абсолютного шчастья просто так не приедешь! Ага... хатели пашти забесплатно такое удовольствие получить.

Целиком согласен!

Например из Киева до Барселоны и обратно билет стоит 252$ (Alitalia), а из Минска на Белавиа тем же маршрутом самый дешевый - 460$

Отсюда вывод: cовсем очумели чиновники с поддержкой неработающих предприятий. Если бы банкротили по человечески то работающему населению не пришлось бы финансировать эту дурь через косвенные налоги, соответственно цены на товар (в том числе билеты) резко бы упали. К примеру, смотрел вчера какую-то аналитическую программу по каналу Вести (тарелка). Так вот, оказывается в Беларуси самое дорогое топливо по СНГ, дороже даже чем в Украине, хотя за нефть мы платим сущие копейки.

There are many people in Belarus that don’t know this but it's ridiculous that Belarus is one of the most expensive places in the world to be a tourist.

It really seems that the government doesn’t want people to visit the country. For example:

- Traveling by plane to Belarus is the most expensive plane ticket in Europe. It's cheaper to fly to New York from Frankfurt than to fly to Minsk from the same destination. There is no competition between airlines and the airport taxes are as high as any of the major airport in the world;

- Visa prices are outrageous. Cheapest visa that anyone can buy is 95 dollars and it really takes time to take care of it...or it will be even more expensive!

- As soon as you arrive in the airport, a foreigner has to buy the mandatory medical insurance for the period of it's stay in the country. This is around 1 to 2 Euros a day. It doesn’t matter what kind of insurance you have at home...you have to pay it anyway!

- After passport control, you arrive in the airport hall and...you are illegal in the country! A foreigner has 3 working days to process it's mandatory registration with the police of the town where he or she will be staying. This cost 1 to 2 dollars a day and all documents are in Russian so to fill them it's... the foreigner’s problem!!

- After leaving the airport, a visitor needs a taxi to get into Minsk, which is 60 kms away. The cheapest one will cost around 30 dollars!

- The hotels have different prices for Russians and non-Russians. Foreigners pay a lot more for bad rooms with no quality of service. Good hotels are ridiculously expensive. No wonder that most visitors will take the option of renting a flat, instead of booking into a hotel!

- Restaurants are expensive and most imported goods are too expensive, even for western Europe standards. Going out is a luxury, especially if a visitor goes to some of the fashionable places in town.

In resume: going to Minsk means spending a lot of money and getting no sun tan or white beaches to relax. The only thing good about Belarus it's it's people. They deserve much better...

Я живу в Израиле и хочу поделиться своим мнением,если можно. Так,вот билет Тель-авив - Минск стоит 470 - 670$ /в зависимости от времени года/ плюс виза 100-150$ и поборы в посольстве РБ , а также различные страховки жизни , здаровья /беларуские-причем безполезные/, ну как вы считаете ,сколько набежало? 1000$+!!! А отдохнуть 7 - 8 дней на Французской ривьере /Канны, гостиница,завтраки,ужины,экскурсии/ - 850 - 1100$. Я думаю,что вывод напрашивается сам.

Покупайте билет за 2-3 месяца и также полетите за 230 фунтов туда обратно.

----- Не надо комментировать то, чего не знаем, да и время дешевых самолетов за фунта в Варшаву и обратно уже кончилось.
Сейчас везде поднимают цены за перелеты, тот же Визар.
сейчас туда обратно минимум 140 фунтов со всеми оплатами.

Try flying by ryanir to Kaunus in Lithuania for £80. Then by TRAIN TO VILNIUS FOR £15 Then by Coach to Minsk Plenty to choose from at low prices £20 total cost is approx £115 to £130
Which is Cheaper than flying to New York
Minsk is no more expensive than anywhere else
Please get your facts right next time. I can only think it is bad planning on your behalf.
By the way Belarus is a Beautiful country

The country does want people to visit it. quote the President.
Try shopping around for airline tickets to Minsk NOT the first ailine you see, it is cheap enough.
forget the taxi get the bus it is cheaper
Going to Minsk does not mean you have to spend a lot of money if you know where to look. Maybe better planning on certain people
supposed budget would be better than criticising Belarus and its cities. I have been several times and would go later this year as it is cheap enough to get there than going to the United States for two weeks.
It is just bad commentary and bad planning by other people who have no ideas.
Yes the metro is fantastic has not changed my mind about Belarussian people who are kind and warm hearted
One last comment Belarus is NOT an expensive country, it is your bad way of thinking that.

Great comments I can read here and I'm glad to find so many "experts" in the Belarusian traveling reality. Just a quick note to say that over the last 10 years I have lived 5 of them in Minsk (not visited, LIVED), so probably my knowledge of the local reality is not that big.

I would also like to mention that a tourist is not necessarily synonym of "backpacker" and obviously it's possible to travel to almost any country in the world with a low budget. However, the standard tourist is not a backpacker or a student doing inter-rail. A standard tourist doesn’t want to jump around from a plane to a bus and or a train to get to its destination, correct?

A standard tourist wants to get to it's destination as fast and comfortable as possible, enjoy the destination attributes (whatever they are), with a good service and a reasonable price. It doesn’t take a lot of experience to understand that Belarus is not tailored (yet) for a standard tourist. And, may I remember, this was the subject of the article.

Obviously you can fly to Vilnius, to Riga, to Warsaw, even to Kiev and the plane ticket will be a lot cheaper. I've done it all! However, the standard tourist doesn’t want to lose at least half a day to get to a destination that is within a 3 hour flight reach of most of European capitals, having to change transportation both ways (not talking about the hassle of the ground border police).

Once within the country, of course you can also save some money walking around without insurance and registration. But the "standard" tourist doesn’t want to worry about that, does he?

Of course you can also eat cheap pizza slices, buy a kind of a kebab in the street or go shopping in Komarovki Rinok or Zhdanovich...but a standard tourist doesn’t want to do that, do they? Ok, you can go to Lido everyday...even Tempo Pizza, but that's mostly if you are visiting the country on your own. Try some "normal" restaurants, not too fancy and check out the prices. Try Pishki Lavoski, Planeta Suchi, Paiuchi Fontana, TGIF, Kopakabana, Gourmet and check out what kind of prices they have there. Again, we are not talking about Michelin star restaurants. I know that for some McDonalds everyday is a good treat, but not for a standard tourist.

Try to shop around on a normal supermarket for imported goods. Try to buy some clothes in Impulse, Zerkalo, even Dinamo rinok.... prices are ridiculously high compared to the quality you get.

I have read a lot of comments talking about "bad planning" and "Belarus is not expensive". I haven't heard of any facts supporting those statements. Here is my challenge: tell me how to make a tourist trip to Belarus on the cheap side...and maybe we can have a profitable discussion ;)

One last comment to say that I have traveled extensively throughout Belarus using all different kind of transports. I found people (in general) are good in their nature, just a little over patient and hopeless about a better future. And yes, I obviously agree that the landscape is many times beautiful and with a lot to offer to a standard tourist.

I am a foreigner living in Belarus for almost 5 years now.
I fully agree that visiting Minsk is really expensive than visiting any city in my country that is;Mauritius.
I have been travelling a lot and i know all the troubles we get at the airport and language problem.The belarussian authorities do not bother for investing in tourism and educating its people to communicate in foreign languages.Once you get to this country,it is your own problem of how to survive and if your are a dark skined man,then you have to look around you every minute so as not to encounter any drunkard or racist minds.
And,Belarussians know it very well that there is nothing interesting on this country apart their discotheques and prostitutes.And to get or buy anything,you just have to show your dollars because every thing is for sale here.
BUT THE PEOPLE OF BELARUS,THEY ARE WONDERFUL PEOPLE.I APPRECIATE THEM EVERY MUCH.THEY ARE BETTER THAN WEALTHY RUSSIANS.

То, что я знаю английский (окончил МГЛУ), не значит, что я должен видеть его повсеместно вместо русского, который является мне родным языком и на котором мне удобнее, интереснее и проще общаться.
Для некоторых людей иностранный язык это знание, рабочий инструмент, ключ к общению с людьми. А для других знание языка - повод считать себя умнее других, и изъясняться на нём где ни попадя, а-ля псевдогламур, мода царской России, где чиновники и офицеры знали французский лучше родного русского языка, и на нём общались в своих кругах.
В качестве второго иностранного языка лично я владею арабским, мне теперь нужно на нём комментировать новости на сайте Хартии? В то время как большинство людей предпочитает видеть здесь русский или белорусский языки, и "англоговорящие" товарищи банально проявляют своё неуважение к остальным читателям. Ну да ладно.
По теме - ещё неизвестно, что предпочтут зажиревшие отцы заграничной демократии, попсовые Ривьеры и Сейшеллы, или белорусский секс-агротуризм... Если будут созданы соответствующие условия, они будут ездить сюда, даже если это будет стоить целое состояние. Потому что для многих европейцев Беларусь, как и Россия - это нечто неизведанное, дремучее... И от этого интересное. Третий мир, что уж там.
